Pacific Crest will work with parents and guardians to ensure that students are healthy and safe.
Review the expectations for students and families on this page and talk about what the information means for your family.
Read updates from the school when they are released.
Update your student's vaccination status once fully vaccinated.
All families and employees are expected to follow directives from national, state, and local authorities to maintain their own health and safety during this pandemic. These include Washington State Department of Public Health, Public Health - Seattle & King County, and the CDC Guide on Protecting Yourself and Others.
Every individual hired to work with students or volunteer on campus is required to be immunized. The COVID-19 immunization is required for PCS employees without a medical or religious exemption. Getting immunized is the biggest thing we can do to keep all our students safe. We want to thank every person for following this requirement and uploading student immunization records in a timely fashion.
All enrolled children must get a PCR test within 72 hours of their first day of school (within 96 hours, if your child starts Sept. 8),
We recommend the UW Ballard Walk-Up testing site - it is available with or without an appointment.
Parents upload results via a provided online form.
If your test result isn't available in time, then please upload an Antigen test result the day before their first day of school and upload the PCR test result as soon as it is ready.
If a student or a member of their household tests positive for COVID-19, a parent/guardian must notify the school as soon as possible. Please contact covidquestion@pacificcrest.org with questions or to report a positive COVID-19 test result. This information will remain confidential and will allow the school to engage in effective contact tracing procedures to limit possible infection of others.
Please email attendance@pacificcrest.org if your child will be absent for any other reason.
Please include information about any diagnoses or symptoms of illness, if that is keeping your child home, as we must track these.
Stay home if sick.
Students and employees showing signs or symptoms of COVID-19 must not come to school. Parents/guardians must keep them at home and away from others and report the illness to the school.
If a student is on campus and develops COVID-like symptoms during the day, they will be sent to a private space on campus and evaluated by a trained PCS employee. The student will have their temperature taken, given a KN-95 mask, and isolated in a separate area if they show signs of a possible infection. PCS will contact the family to pick up their student.
Please do not ask teachers or other staff to help you determine if your child should stay home.
Follow the Flowchart to determine if your child should test and stay home.
Contact covidquestion@pacificcrest.org, if you cannot determine next steps.
Isolate at home if indicated by Symptom Flowchart.
Keep medical information up to date.
All medical forms must be updated with family and emergency contacts and current medical forms for a student to attend the first day of school. Log into Transparent Classroom to see your student’s required forms.
Be aware of your child's health.
Families and staff should be aware of any unexpected symptoms and follow the Flowchart for guidance.
Wear a face covering.
Mask are currently optional unless indicated via the Flowchart. Wear a high quality mask when the flowchart indicates it is needed. A face covering completely covers the mouth and nose and fits securely on the sides of the face and under the chin. Face coverings and masks must fit and be worn correctly. Along with vaccination, masks are the most effective tool to prevent transmission of COVID-19.
Masks recommendations. Masks are not created equal.
Gaiters are not an acceptable option.
For new 3 year olds, just getting your child comfortable wearing a double layer cloth mask that doesn't fall off the nose, is the most important step. Come to school with 3 extras. We have replacements available on-site, if needed; double masking with a disposable surgical/procedural mask beneath well-fitting cloth masks will provide higher levels of protection for our Primary children. You may also find KN94s or KN95s that fit your Primary child well.
For older children who can wear them comfortably (elementary and Middle School), we recommend FPP2 category of non-medical masks (KN94 & KN95) or double masking with a disposable surgical/procedural mask beneath a well-fitting cloth mask or an N95.
Mask fit and comfort is the most important, especially for our youngest children who cannot be expected to wear something that hurts their ears or nose all day.
Please be sure that your child's mask fits well; please supply your child with 3 extra masks (more if your child tends to get their masks wet frequently).
Practice excellent hygiene.
Wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds — especially after being in a public place, or after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing. If soap and water are not readily available, use a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol. Cover all surfaces of your hands and rub them together until they feel dry.
